Biscuit’s Big Adventure — From Busy Streets to Safe Sleep 🐾

Updated: Mar 23

After two long weeks covering miles of ground across busy streets and highways — which always causes worry — “Biscuit” (named for his appearance this week at The Big Biscuit) is finally safe. Last night, the journey came to an end when I was able to humanely trap him and bring him to safety.

For days, Biscuit had been quietly navigating neighborhoods most people pass through without a second thought. TPD Animal Control & I tracked sightings street by street, from 17th to 29th, over several miles even across the highway, knocking on doors, following tips, and piecing together the path of a dog doing everything he could to survive while avoiding the very people trying to help him.

It is always incredible how dogs can hide in plain sight — especially under the cover of darkness. While traffic rushes by and daily life continues, a lost dog becomes almost invisible to the world around them. Survival mode takes over. Every sound, every movement, every unfamiliar person can feel like danger.

Despite the miles he covered, and the constant concern of him crossing busy streets and highways, Biscuit stayed close enough for us to keep narrowing the search area. Each sighting helped tell the story of where he felt safest and how he was moving. Patterns began to form, and with patience, consistency, and a plan, the opportunity finally presented itself.

Last night, that patience paid off.

Biscuit is now safe — no longer navigating traffic, no longer searching for scraps, no longer sleeping with one eye open. Instead, he can finally rest.

A sincere thank you to TPD Animal Control and to everyone who reported sightings, shared information, and kept an eye out for Biscuit. Community awareness is often the difference between a continued search and a safe outcome.

Rescues like this are always a reminder that persistence matters. Lost dogs are rarely as far away as it feels. They are often closer than we think — watching, waiting, and hoping for the right moment when they feel safe enough to stop running.

Welcome to safety, Biscuit. 🐾
